Distinguished government and business guests gathered at the World Trade Centre Melbourne to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the China–Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA).

On August 13, the VIP Exhibitor Welcome Reception for the China–Australia Expo was held at the WTC Melbourne clubhouse, the “WTC Elite Club.” Exhibitors, associations, and public- and private-sector leaders from diverse industries came together to welcome the visiting Chinese delegations and explore new opportunities for cooperation.

Initiated jointly by Chinese and Australian business leaders, the ACETIE is an annual event now in its eighth year. It has become an important platform for advancing bilateral economic and trade exchange. This business reception was co-hosted by AU123.com and WTC Melbourne.

Guest remarks

During the event, Wang Yue, CEO of the Expo Organising Committee; Andrew Robb, Chair of the Committee and former Australian Minister for Trade and Investment; and Bruce Atkinson, Executive Chair and former President of the Victorian Legislative Council, delivered speeches welcoming the Chinese exhibitors, celebrating the tenth anniversary of ChAFTA, and wishing the Expo every success in deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Angela Liu, General Manager of WTC, also delivered remarks, noting that over the past year WTC has hosted more than 60 events centred on conferences and ecosystem building. Over 20 companies have moved into WTC, further expanding the community network and its capacity to connect resources.

As the venue host, the WTC Elite Club leveraged WTC’s convenient location and full-service event support to provide guests with an efficient and comfortable environment for communication, ensuring smooth and orderly matchmaking on site.

Partnership signing

On the day, WTC signed a cooperation agreement with the Melbourne branch of Juneyao Air, establishing a partnership.

Notably, WTC has participated in the ACETIE for two consecutive years and this year received the ChAFTA 10th Anniversary Excellence Award. This honour recognises WTC’s ongoing efforts in providing professional office and event spaces, serving cross-border enterprises, connecting industry resources, and creating collaboration scenarios. WTC will continue to work with ecosystem partners to advance practical cooperation and deliver outcomes in Melbourne. Our sincere thanks go to all guests and partners for their presence and support.
